Why not celebrate a week of parties at our groups, with prizes and pampering and ending with our AGM and a night out for the Mums at Xscape on Friday 28th October 2011 at the Winterseam at from 7.30pm.
Deborah says ‘its a great way for our families to get together and celebrate 3 years of SURE Mums and helping to bring our communities together, because without our families, volunteers and Management Committee we would not be here so a big thank you to everyone involved to help support and grow SURE Mums over the past 3 years’.
SURE Mums is a new social enterprise association focused on community interest and development and stands for Supporting, Uniting, Relationships for Everyone. It provides a supportive framework for people and their communities to access career development advice and training, entrepreneurial and enterprise mentoring for people looking to self-employment and provides general social support through the opportunity to connect with new people.

Mums and tots are expected to run in fancy dress to raise funds for Marie House, which is a safe haven refuge for mothers and children who are victims of domestic abuse.
With hopefully over 50 mums and tots taking part the sponsored Fun Run is sure to cause a visual stir around Pontefract Race Course. It’s all for a good cause though as 50% of the proceeds will go towards buying essential items such as toiletries, bedding and clothing for Marie House and 50% to SURE Mums to buy much needed toys for the children.
After crossing the finishing line and certificate presentations picnic baskets will be cracked open as mums and tots celebrate their achievement in the park and look forward to presenting the charity with their donation.
If you can’t be there please sponsor a child that can. It’s all for a worthy cause.

Store manager Samantha Holmes is supporting the community group by kindly providing seeds, bulbs, compost and pots to give SURE Mums the start they need to get mums and tots growing.
Deborah Smith from SURE Mums says: Homebase have been a great support to our inspire and aspire initiative. We wanted our tots to learn about how our food grows and what happens when they plant seeds and water them and give them light.
“They have really embraced this task and enjoyed getting their hands dirty as well as getting excited about seeing the very first shoots. We would not have been able to do this with the support of Homebase as we are a charitable organisation. We thank them very much for giving our tots this opportunity.”
